Parenting During Lockdown

This parenting during lockdown stuff is hard.

I mean REALLY hard.

I know I am lucky in so many ways. I truly do.

I am so grateful to have a safe home to stay with my family. Grateful that our jobs can be done remotely. Grateful that I am able to spend so much time bonding with my children.

But I need to say this again for the people in the back –

Not getting a break is hard.

Having nowhere to go is hard.

Being “on duty” 24/7 is hard.

Parenting on a good day is difficult. Parenting in quarantine is off the charts.

But hear this, too:

It’s ok to feel frustrated or overwhelmed with the current new normal.

It’s ok not to be “Mommy Teacher of the Year”.

It’s ok to hide in the bathroom for a few moments of peace or to allow a little (a lot) more screen time nowadays.

It’s ok not to be perfect as long as we’re doing the best we can. Because that’s all we have to do.

You have enough on your plate right now, friends. Take “mom guilt” off of it.

Deep breaths.

We will get through this together, one day at a time.
